Before & After # 6 Painted Bookcase!!

I posted about this and received varying comments, but everyone suggested I paint them white....
Here is what I started out with before the decluttering and tidy up....

Bad light was a big problem...but the tidy up helped for the time being

I decided to use a little of my chosen bedroom wall color, Wattyl Inner Peace, and added it to Dulux White on White. This is after I had finished the pine bookcase - it needed less coats than the older piece which needed four plus undercoat.
Wattyl Inner Peace - love that name
A small amount of the books awaiting the new look
I put up this cheap light shade to lighten the space for a temporary fix as I already had it lying around
 Getting there....
The space is light and fresher already...
It appears french grey in color at night when its darker in the space

Im really pleased with the results. Though the pictures dont do it justice, the space is much more up to date and more what I was wanting. Just need a camera to show it all better! This took me a lot longer to do than I anticipated, so was very happy to have it done, and another project off the list.....
Thank you for your lovely comments recently, I love them all. My son Dylan was very surprised by all of the birthday wishes, and says thank you.

My New Chair

OH MY! I have finally brought home my new linen wingback chair. Gorgeous...This is my inspiration piece for my french inspired bedroom - some linen, white and accents of duck egg blue. I cant stop looking at it, and didnt remember it being so big. In the store it had a gorgeous (too expensive) white cushion on it - didnt realise I was getting this linen rectangle one with the chair! Not sure where it will go as I have a door and built in robes on one wall, the window on another, a door to the outside on another, and a closet door and shoe cupboard (the old fireplace - why did they take it out!!?) on the other... Looking at the pictures I think I need some photography classes!

I also want to thank everyone for their comments and advice on my bookshelves. I have decluttered and rearranged, and decided -  finally, to go ahead and paint them! Karen of  Empty Nest Remix suggested to arrange the books in color rather than size - this looks a lot better and until I get around to painting them I can now walk past and feel good about the area. And for those who said rip up the carpet, I would love to, but its freezing in winter in the top end of the house, so we could never do it at this time of year. And we also dont have the funds to have the jarrah done at the moment, so for now it stays. I really appreciate the tips, and suggestions and will post the painted result in the next few weeks. Here is the 'simplified and decluttered' look for now...Before

Quite dark I know, but the lighting will be addressed and the white bookshelves will lighten it also I hope.

Have a lovely weekend!

Do I Paint Them or Dont I???

HELP!! Im in need of some suggestions and advice as Im not sure whether to paint the bookshelves in our hallway or not! Im swaying towards painting them but keep holding back - always been a bit indecisive...
Unfortunately due to the carpet throughout the hallway/passage having to stay for some time yet - there's gorgeous jarrah under all that shag!!! - there arent many options to lift and brighten the area. Not sure if I should paint it white or just leave it and freshen up the books and place better items on them. Would like to hang some photos/pictures above in frames - either grey or white maybe - and all neatly placed.
Would love to hear what you think.....
The view from the kitchen/living area. I will be looking at better lighting options as this middle area (its a t shape) is quite dark.

WHAT A MESS!!!! I am so ashamed......

This is the view from the lighter top end outside the master and a guest bedroom looking towards the kitchen/living area..

The Carpet - hmmmm...

The front door - though not used as the main entrance - the back door is! Just outside our bedroom and a guest room on the left. Much lighter due to the windows. Sorry about the photos, not easy in this light.
Would appreciate hearing what you think.
