My New Chair

OH MY! I have finally brought home my new linen wingback chair. Gorgeous...This is my inspiration piece for my french inspired bedroom - some linen, white and accents of duck egg blue. I cant stop looking at it, and didnt remember it being so big. In the store it had a gorgeous (too expensive) white cushion on it - didnt realise I was getting this linen rectangle one with the chair! Not sure where it will go as I have a door and built in robes on one wall, the window on another, a door to the outside on another, and a closet door and shoe cupboard (the old fireplace - why did they take it out!!?) on the other... Looking at the pictures I think I need some photography classes!

I also want to thank everyone for their comments and advice on my bookshelves. I have decluttered and rearranged, and decided -  finally, to go ahead and paint them! Karen of  Empty Nest Remix suggested to arrange the books in color rather than size - this looks a lot better and until I get around to painting them I can now walk past and feel good about the area. And for those who said rip up the carpet, I would love to, but its freezing in winter in the top end of the house, so we could never do it at this time of year. And we also dont have the funds to have the jarrah done at the moment, so for now it stays. I really appreciate the tips, and suggestions and will post the painted result in the next few weeks. Here is the 'simplified and decluttered' look for now...Before

Quite dark I know, but the lighting will be addressed and the white bookshelves will lighten it also I hope.

Have a lovely weekend!

  3. You have been busy! Love your new chair, it's the perfect colour! Your bookshelves look so different re-organised and de-cluttered, but yes, I do agree a lick of paint would really bring them back to life. Hope you find yourself sitting with a hot cup of tea, a great novel and your new chair over the weekend! Enjoy!

  5. What a difference the book color-coding makes! I think I heard that idea on HGTV's Designed to Sell, but I'm not sure. Can't wait to see the painted bookshelves eventually. I do have to stick my neck out and defend your poor carpet. Personally, I think it's being criticized too harshly. Once those bookshelves are painted cream, the carpet's look will soften.
Your chair is absolutely beautiful. I have a grey and cream bedroom and this chair would look wonderful in it. Could you prop the chair's pillow on your bed and make your own white pillow for the chair? Just a thought - it would tie the room together. Take care!

  6. I am a HUGE fan of rearranging by color! I have done that on two book shelves in my home. That chair is so great, and very timeless!

  8. Hi there, thank you so, so much for your lovely comment the other day. It really means a lot! I love your new chair. I'm going to get a couple of wingbacks for our family room soon. My husband needs one for his back. The fabric you have on yours is lovely, I'm having trouble deciding on the fabric! Have a lovely weekend..Rachaelxx

  9. Love your chair, I have a similar one that actually sits in front of the window and in the afternoon it is the best place to sit and read as the sun comes in and shines on the book! Must say I like the colour coding of books too. I will return frequently.
